Until now, financial authorities have suggested that banks and financial holding companies use provisions rather than dividends for shareholders in preparation for Corona 19. Financial Supervisory Commissioner Yoon Seok-heon said at a press conference at the end of last year, “There is some point on why dividends are being suppressed. It will fall,” he said. “In the corona, dividends are a factor in declining corporate value.”
The financial authorities have discussed concrete measures with the dividend payout ratio (the ratio of dividends to current net income) of financial holdings and banks at a level of 15 to 25%.
