[이코노믹리뷰=박정훈 기자] Following Samsung Electronics’ new dividend policy, LG Electronics (066570) announced that it would increase its dividends for its stocks. LG Electronics announced the results of the board meeting on the 28th, including the contents of fluctuating in-kind and cash dividends.
LG Electronics held a board meeting and announced that it has decided to introduce the electronic voting system, distribute in-kind and cash dividends, and approve financial statements and business reports.
According to the resolution of the board of directors, LG Electronics decided to provide cash dividends of 1200 won and 1250 won per share for common and preferred stocks, respectively. The dividend will be confirmed after approval of the general shareholders’ meeting scheduled for March this year. Last year’s dividends were 750 won and 800 won, respectively.
LG Electronics decided to introduce the electronic voting system from the general shareholders’ meeting scheduled in March this year so that its shareholders can exercise their voting rights more conveniently. The e-voting system took into account shareholders’ demands to participate in a non-face-to-face online manner.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics released the results of last year’s annual performance along with the contents of the board’s resolution. Last year, LG Electronics recorded sales of 63,262 trillion won, operating profit of 3,195 billion won, and net profit of 2.638 trillion won. Operating profit and net profit increased 31.1% and 1046.9%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
According to the securities market disclosure regulations, listed corporations are required to disclose when sales or profits or losses change by more than 30% compared to the previous year. For large corporations with total assets of 2 trillion won or more, it is 15% or more. Accordingly, LG Electronics disclosed changes in performance along with the resolutions of the board of directors.
LG Electronics plans to announce the results of each business division on the afternoon of the 29th.
