A man in his 30s who imprisoned a woman he had been dating for breaking up and beat him indiscriminately was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for a man in his thirties who brought his girlfriend, who notified him of separation, to his house, imprisoned him for three days, and beat him indiscriminately.

The Jeju District Court Criminal Division 2 (Director Chan-Soo Jang) sentenced A (38), who was handed over to trial on charges of severe confinement, special injury, and attempted murder, to be sentenced to 30 years in prison on the 18th. He ordered a 10-year restriction on employment in facilities.

Mr. A was accused of confining and assaulting a woman B, who notified her separation during dating in March last year, in her own house in Jeju Island for three days. Mr. A tied Mr. B’s hands and feet and threatened with a weapon.

At the time, Mr. B was in a state of serious injuries, such as a broken rib and ruptured spleen due to Mr. A’s violence. Mr. B successfully escaped while Mr. A was away for a while and reported to 112. Recognizing that the police report, Mr. A drove his car and ran away.

As the investigation net narrowed, Mr. A fled for three days and was eventually arrested.

The prosecution sought 25 years in prison at a decision trial on January 14, but the court said, “The crime is very bad,” and the sentence was significantly higher than the prosecution’s sentence.

The judge explained that “the defendant committed another similar crime within a few months after being released from prison,” and said, “It is questionable whether the defendant is reflecting on it.”

It is known that A was sentenced to two years in prison and released early last year for assaulting a woman who broke up after dating in July 2017 to a cemetery and assaulted with a blunt weapon.
