(Uijeongbu = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Gyeong-yoon = Korean figure skating female single sign Yoo-young (17, Suigo) has had a difficult life for the past year.

Yoo-young, who was usually training in the United States, had a completely twisted training schedule as the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) spread around the world last year.

Yooyoung has been self-quarantine three times in the last year.

Last March, I visited Montreal, Canada, where the International Ice Skating Federation (ISU) World Figure Skating Championships were scheduled to be held.

When domestic training was not available, he moved to Springs, Colorado, USA to continue training, but as the local situation worsened, he returned to his country for a second self-isolation.

In November of last year, he was the only Korean player to participate in the 6th ISU Senior Grand Prix in Osaka, Japan, and then returned to Korea to live in isolation again.

Isolation was difficult. As I couldn’t train, my strength was noticeably reduced. There was also a problem with maintaining the senses.

Due to the nature of figure skating players whose balance can be shaken even with small changes in their body, the aftermath of isolation was large.

However, Yoo Young survived the quarantine life three times with a positive attitude.

In the 75th National Men’s and Women’s Figure Skating Comprehensive Championships and 2021 World Figure Skating Championships Dispatched Short Program held at the indoor ice rink in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi-do on the 25th, he scored 38.15 in Technical Score (TES), 31.72 in Art Score (PCS), and 69.87 in total. After getting to the first place with a dot, he said, “When I first self-isolate, it felt like my muscles were all gone.”

However, Yoo-young managed to overcome it. He said, “The training environment was difficult, but I tried to maintain the feeling while browsing the video last season,” he said. “Since the second self-isolation, I got used to it.

I communicated with coach Hamada Mae (Japan), the leader in charge, through video calls.

Yooyoung said, “I couldn’t train with my coach because I was overseas,” and said, “It was a difficult situation, but I tried my best.”

It was a difficult situation, but Yooyoung meticulously prepared for this event, which took tickets to the World Championships.

Regarding the day’s acting, he said, “There were a lot of parts that I didn’t like, such as the triple axel shaking a little, but I’m glad I didn’t make a big mistake.”
