Actor Yoon Yeo-jeong was the first Korean actor to be nominated for an Academy (Oscar) Best Supporting Actor Award, while the New York Times, a leading American newspaper, reported an interview with Yoon Yeo-jeong (74).
The New York Times released a video interview with Yoon Yeo-jung, who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the movie’Minari’ on the 3rd (one hour).
The New York Times started the interview by introducing Yoon Yeo-jung as’a veteran Korean star and has built an outstanding career for 50 years’.
Yoon Yeo-jung, born in 1947, said, “It’s like a dream for a 73-year-old Asian woman to be nominated for an Oscar.” Meanwhile, Yoon Yeo-jeong also expressed a sense of pressure. He said, “I have great expectations for my nomination in Korea, and I think of myself as an Olympic athlete,” he said. “The burden is difficult.”
Yoon Yeo-jung recalled when she first started acting and said, “I didn’t really know what acting was,” he said, “I just memorized the ambassadors and did what they asked for, and I didn’t know if I was enjoying acting or dislike at that time.”
Yoon Yeo-jung also introduced the New York Times’ experience of moving to Florida in the United States after marriage in the 1970s and living for 10 years.
He added, “I suffered stress from a small role, and most people hated me.”
‘Minari’ was nominated in six categories at the 93rd Academy Awards: Best Works, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Screenplay, and Best Music. This is drawing a phenomenal record of being the first Asian American nominee for the Best Actor Award in the history of the Oscars, and the first Korean nominee for the Oscar for Best Actor, drawing the attention of people around the world. In the domestic box office as well, it won first place for three weeks from the date of its release on the 3rd of last month, as well as exceeding 800,000 viewers, and also achieved great results in terms of box office performance.
‘Minari’ is a movie about a very special journey of a Korean family who left for an unfamiliar America in search of hope. He was nominated for Best Works and 6 categories at the 93rd Academy Awards. It is currently being screened at the theater.
