“I am not a Hollywood actor and I have no experience.
It is said to be 26 crowns, but I still have only one plaque.”
Yoon Yeo-jung, who has focused the world’s attention with’Buttercup’, delivered a great record of 26 crowns. At the online press conference held on the 26th, he said, “Thank you for congratulations.”
The movie’Buttercup’ tells the ordinary and special story of a Korean family who left for Arkansas in the United States to achieve the’American Dream’ in the early 80s.
Dad Jacob (Steven Yeon), who builds his own farm, and Monica (Han Ye-ri), daughter Ann (Noel Kate Jo), and the youngest naughty boy David (Alan Kim), started working as an unfamiliar chick judge for a living. She shows her living in a strange harmony with her grandmother Sunja (Yoon Yeo-jung).
‘Minari’ is the story of director Jeong Isaac’s own self. He had parents who had actually immigrated to the United States, and was born in Denver, Colorado, USA in 1978, and grew up on a small farm in southern Arkansas in the United States, the setting of the film.
Director Jeong Isak said, “There are stories of Korean immigrants and Korean elements. It was also important to show the image of the United States at the time. I did a study on the lives of immigrants and American farmers. I tried to capture the memories I had at the time in detail.” .
The part that Jung emphasized most confidently was the actors’ acting. He said, “The actors played the feelings and emotions of those days well.”
“The important thing in producing and directing is to help everyone who participates in this film to become an artist (artist). I thought my role was to encourage each person to exert their utmost strength. I thought it was my role to implement personal ideas. Rather, it was a work achieved with one force.”

‘Buttercup’ is praised for being a story that is free from stereotypes and sentimentalism, and is evaluated as creating an opportunity to rethink the meaning of the family beyond borders and cultures.
In response to this, director Jeong Isak said, “It is a movie that contains a personal story, so it is amazing, surprisingly, and humbly. It is not because it is a story about immigrants or a story about the times, but because it shows a universal human relationship. I think.”
At the same time, director Jung turned to the actors. He expressed his affection, saying, “He showed profound acting ability. All the actors played the role with an open mind. Just by looking at the facial expressions, he gave us a delicate act of humanity.”
Yoon Yeo-jung praised him as “the first time it was the story of Isaac (director Isak Jeong), so I asked if I should play his grandmother. Then the teacher told me to do it on my own. So I gave him an A+ and thought it was okay. The director who does not lock the actor.” .
He added, “Everyone said that I appeared as a comedy, but it’s not a comedy, but it’s not a comedy. It’s not a style that I do so intentionally. It’s okay if you see that way. You can see it freely.”
Stephen Yeon, who plays Jacob, was in charge of both acting and production. “I am also a second-generation immigrant who immigrated to the United States as a child,” he said. “This movie made me understand my father.”
He explained, “Rather than seeing the father as the subject of the father, I saw it conceptually and abstractly because there were cultural and linguistic barriers. But through this film, I understood a lot and learned a lot about the’person’ that is the father.”
Still, he said, “I can’t say that I made Jacob a role model, but as I digested the role, I thought,’I’m my father.’ I didn’t want to play a stereotypical uncle. I didn’t want to play Jacob himself in those days. I acted and dug,” he said energetically.
Han Ye-ri also said, “I thought that it would be nice if my friends in my generation would have an opportunity to communicate with my parents and that generation while watching this movie,” and “I also improved my understanding of my parents.”

The actors stayed in the same accommodation throughout the filming period. Even after the filming was over, they lived together in one house, gathered together like a family, and chatted, and they constantly studied movies.
Director Isak Jeong wrote conversations between his family in Korean, and his script, which had lived only in the United States, was mostly written. So I made the script more realistic by giving out ideas and opinions directly with the actors.
Ye-ri Han emphasized, “I stayed with Mr. Yoon Yeo-jung at Airbnb. I was able to change the translation from written to colloquial. I was able to gather before filming and revise the script for a week. I was able to deal with the scenario in depth.”
Stephen Yeon said, “The director’s casting skills were outstanding. It was with great actors. We made a lot of effort with dedication. We did our best to make it stand out because Jung’s screenplay was also excellent.”
“It seems that the actors who are suitable for the perfect scenario have created synergy. I felt that Mr. Yoon and Mr. Yeri were working together to make great things together. I thought like a family. I was staying in a different hostel. Mr. Yoon and Mr. Yeri stayed in. I went to the place to eat and do laundry, and it was like a real Jacob.”
Director Isak Jeong borrowed many ideas from Yoon Yeo-jung. Yoon Yeo-jung honestly shared her experience of living in the United States, and many parts were included in the movie.
Yoon Yeo-jung said, “I have a friend who has been married in an international marriage, and my friend’s husband chewed chestnuts with his mouth and gave it to his grandson. It was not a lie, it was the story of the friend’s husband, so I told Isaac (director Isak Jeong) that was reflected. “Aren’t you sleeping. Isaac was born in the United States, so I told you about it. If you were a Korean grandmother, you wouldn’t have said that you would sleep with your precious and sick grandson.”
Yoon Yeo-jeong praised director Jeong Isaac as an all-inclusive director. He said, “Will it never be?” I respected my opinion and changed the set right away. Ah!’Wonderful’ is included in the dialogue, which is also my idea. Seeing this, I did a lot of things,” he said.
The hardest thing during the filming in the US was the heat. Yoon Yeo-jung said, “The air conditioner was broken, and when I had to record at the same time, I turned off the air conditioner in the trailer. It was indescribably hot. What made me forget everything was that I could eat when I go to the dorm. I always eat rice. I think, but when I work, I work hard,” he laughed.

Yoon Yeo-jung said of’Water parsley’ as “a work that gave me a great, astonished surprise.”
He said, “When we filmed, we did everything together without thinking. We just thought that we should finish our work quickly and go somewhere cool. I was a little surprised because people liked it at the Sundance Film Festival. I said to Isaac,’Thank you so much for being here.’ Looking at it, I only studied things like Yeri, Steven, and what I did wrong. But the people I saw just cried. Why are you crying like this? Then they said, “Only the teacher doesn’t cry.” “Isaac called me out and the audience stood up and clapped. I cried at that time.”
Yoon Yeo-jung said, “I’m an old actor” and said, “When I see young people achieve it, my patriotism explodes when I see things that are better than me. It’s amazing that I’ve been awarded an award now. I didn’t imagine and make this. It’s astonishing.” That’s it,” he said.
Finally, Yoon Yeo-jeong shared the most memorable moment. “My schedule ended a few days earlier. One day Isaac came to my house with the staff and said a big bow. It was a big surprise. There were some Australians, but… I was so surprised but no one took a picture. I was doing. It was difficult to shoot, but it is the most memorable moment of where I learned about the big section.”
The movie’Buttercup’ will be released on March 3.
