Singer Yoo Seung-joon (US Steve Seung-joon Yoo), who was restricted from entering Korea due to military service avoidance, emphasized the resentment again through a YouTube video, saying that the reports of his military enlistment in the past were intended.

After leaving the country in 2002, Mr. Yoo gave up his Korean citizenship and obtained US citizenship. Afterwards, at the request of the Military Manpower Administration, a decision was made to ban entry, and the government has refused to issue a visa to Mr. Yoo.

He first explained how the reports of his enlistment were carried out at the time. Yoo said, “The manager just put me down on the first floor and went home,” and a reporter said to him,’I’m over 20 years old, so I have to go to the army.’ Mr. Yoo said that he replied,’Yes, I will go when I am old’, and when the reporter mentioned the Marines, he said’I don’t care.’ Yoo claims that media reports came out based on this dialogue.

Mr. Yoo pointed to the reporter and criticized, “How can I give unclear information in this way (as an article) without receiving a request or request?”

He emphasized, “I thought that enlistment in the military (at the time) didn’t really apply to me,” he stressed, “until the reporter’s intended misinformation came out.”

Yoo reiterated his position that he had legally obtained citizenship and had nothing to do with evasion of military service, and insisted that it was a completely different case from ‘trick’ or ‘far birth’.
