The Yonsei University Music College Piano Department passed the students who should have been eliminated instead of those who had passed during the regular recruitment process. Yonsei University argues that it is due to computational errors, but the controversy is expected to increase as the pass/fail results of dozens of test takers are reversed.

According to Yonsei University on the 29th, Yonsei University conducted a preliminary trial for 101 people who applied to the piano department on the 25th to 26th. A day later, on the 27th, a total of 41 people were notified of the acceptance, and on the 28th, the evaluation was conducted on the subject.

However, on the night of the 28th, Yonsei University recognized that there was a computer error. The pass/fail results for 20 out of 41 were reversed. In response, the school was notified of failure at the preliminary examination, and the 20 students who did not take the original examination were individually notified of the acceptance and informed them to come to the original examination on the 30th. An apology was sent to the 20 people who had already passed the trial and notified that they were rejected.

On the controversial date, Yonsei University released a press release on that day and said, “In order to ensure fairness in the entrance examination, when the preliminary examination is in progress, a preliminary trial number is given to the examinee, rather than the actual test number, and a computer error occurred in the process of mapping the temporary number and the test number after the evaluation. “I was notified of failure to 20 successful candidates.”

The test takers and parents whose results have been reversed by Yonsei University’s actions are protesting. Some are even claiming the suspicion of’examination irregularities’.

One parent said, “At Yonsei University, it is said that it was a computer error, but there are problems.” It is incomprehensible to ask a few people to come to see the original intention on Saturday (30th) when the evaluation table is not publicly announced. “I rebelled.

An official from Yonsei University explained that “there is a discussion on compensation for 20 people who have been notified of disqualification after reporting to the original case,” and “we are working on possible measures such as refunding the application fee.” Regarding the allegation of corruption in the entrance examination, the official explained, “It is only a computer error, and there is no corruption.”

Yonsei University plans to announce the final 20 successful candidates on the 7th of next month.
