Severance Yonsei Medical Center announced that it will lead the future policy projects, such as building a bridgehead to secure leadership in digital healthcare in 2021.

Yonsei University Medical Center Vice-President Yoon Dong-seop shared the goals and plans for the future policy projects of Yonsei Medical Center through the New Year’s New Year address sent to members on the 4th.

Medical Center Director Yoon Dong-seop suggested △Promotion of future policy projects without disruption △Securing digital healthcare leadership △Securing human resources and focusing on capacity development △Securing research competitiveness △Realizing the institutional mission of Yonsei Medical Center.

First, it plans to focus on the implementation of information and communication technology (ICT) and big data, which are key elements of future medical care such as precision medicine and digital health. To this end, Yonsei Medical Center will develop a platform that collects and manages data distributed in medical centers, establishes a big data room, and expands a dedicated data management organization. It also plans to promote a foundational innovation project to digitize useful data.

Medical Center Director Yoon Dong-seop said, “If the business of discovering and distributing data utilization services goes smoothly, it will establish itself as a leading medical institution in digital healthcare.”

Also, as a future policy project, Yongin Severance Hospital, which is in its second year of opening, provides high-quality medical services as a digital innovative hospital. It is a plan to promote this.

In addition, the heavy particle cancer treatment center and Gangnam Severance Hospital, scheduled to be completed in 2021, are scheduled to be rebuilt in stages.

A plan was also established to focus on securing human resources and developing capabilities by establishing a long-term human resource development strategy. It is a policy to develop the careers and competencies of faculty members, revitalize internal communication, and improve work processes.

There is also a plan to secure research competitiveness by intensively fostering research capabilities. It plans to establish a joint research system for researchers by selecting areas that the institution can do well and research areas that must be conducted, and actively attract investment.

Yonsei Medical Center is also planning to expand its commercialization platform by establishing a medical technology holding company.
