The Bank of Korea, which predicted an economic growth rate of 3% this year in November of last year, but in five months, Governor Lee Ju-yeol publicly mentioned the possibility of a higher rate.

Looking at the results in the first quarter, it is expected that the economic recovery is faster than expected and the flow will continue.

“The mid-3% range is as much as possible. It is expected that the growth of exports and facility investment will be wider than expected, and this trend will continue.”

However, contrary to this forecast, the BOK unanimously froze the base rate at 0.5%.

The unsettled corona re-proliferation tax and the vaccination rate of only 2% are still factors of concern, so it is not the time to talk about the shift in monetary policy to resolve the inflationary trend or financial imbalance.

“Corona 19 development, vaccination, and other economic uncertainties are still quite high…It is difficult to be sure that the recovery trend has settled…It is too early to consider a shift in policy stance…”

The government drew a line saying that the recent rise in house prices is due to the abundant liquidity that the government’s position is at the same time as a combination of complex factors.

“I’m thinking that concerns about the supply and demand of housing and expectations about prices have not played a big role…”

On the other hand, regarding the rapidly rising virtual currency, President Lee reaffirmed his negative position, saying that it has no intrinsic value and is difficult to use as a means of payment because it is difficult to calculate value, and excessive investment can lead to financial risks.
