Corona 19 confirmed cases are constantly occurring at the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Offshore Shipyard located in Geoje, Gyeongnam.
The shipyard stopped working today and conducted a thorough investigation of all employees, including suppliers.

Yes, one of the world’s three largest shipyards, Geoje Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, Okpo Shipyard in Gyeongsangnam-do has stopped working today.
As of 10 a.m. today, 65 confirmed cases of Corona 19 occurred at this shipyard.
Today, diagnostic tests are being conducted at 5 screening clinics installed near the shipyard, including 2,400 workers at Daewoo Shipbuilding.
In Geoje City, confirmed cases occurred mainly in entertainment establishments and public baths from the 13th, and after the employees of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering’s direct management and partner companies visited the relevant entertainment business close to the company, it led to group infection within the shipyard.
As the shipyard is large, confirmed cases came out from various spaces.
There were several confirmed cases in cafeteria, changing rooms, as well as foreign dormitories.
Geoje City is in discussion with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering on a plan to conduct a thorough investigation of 20,000 people, including employees of partner companies, to break the infection chain at the shipyard.
Considering that the population of Geoje is 240,000, it means that close to 10% of the total population of Geoje must undergo corona19 testing.
However, at the moment, if it is not possible to detect hidden infected people early and block the spread of the infection, the spread within shipyards could be further intensified.
In particular, the number of people working at two shipyards in Geoje, including Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, is 40,000. If the spread within the shipyard does not stop, there is a possibility that it will spread to the entire Geoje community.
Geoje City has also decided to close 225 daycare centers starting today to block the spread of the Corona 19 region.
