Along with the Academy, the Golden Globe, one of the two largest film awards in the United States, faces strong demands for reform from the Hollywood entertainment world.
More than 100 large public relations agencies with Hollywood stars as customers have even warned of a Golden Globe boycott and demanded strong reform measures.
In a joint statement, these agencies criticized Golden Globe that discrimination, exclusivity, and non-professionalism were rampant, and corruption suspicions were raised with funding from some producers and broadcasters.
At the same time, he warned that he would block his Hollywood stars from participating in the Golden Globes unless they show massive and continuous changes right away.
The Hollywood Foreign Journalists Association, which is responsible for the Golden Globe, is composed of 87 members, and it has been pointed out that financial management and operation of awards ceremonies are unclear.
In particular, the lack of diversity and closure of the Golden Globe was found to be on the cutting board, as it was found that none of the association members were black.
Earlier, at the awards ceremony held last month, Golden Globe classified the movie’Buttercup’ as a foreign language film and excluded it from nominations for Best Works and Actor Awards, causing controversy such as racial discrimination.
It was an American film directed by an American director and made by an American production company, but it classified’Buttercup’ as a foreign language film due to the regulation that more than 50% of conversations must be in English.
As public relations agencies warned of boycotts and pressured them, Golden Globe announced that it would pursue reforms in Buryaburya.
In a statement, the Hollywood Association of Foreign Journalists said in a statement that it would increase the number of members to at least 100 and fill 13% of its members with black people. “We will do our best to make the necessary changes and ensure transparency.”
