“Edelweiss, edelweiss, Every morning you greet me.”

The Sound of Music film is based on the true story of the von Trapp family choir, who had to leave their homeland to escape the Nazis during World War II.

Actor Christopher Plummer, who played lyrical melodies of Edelweiss in a bass voice, died at 91.

The Associated Press said Plummer died peacefully at his home in Connecticut, USA, while his wife watched.

After entering Hollywood, Canada, Plummer was widely known to movie fans around the world by taking on bold roles such as Roman Tyrant, Tolstoy, and 60-minute anchor of the US current affairs program.

In 2012, he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as a father who belatedly confesses that he is homosexual after losing his wife in the movie Beginners, and was also recorded as the 82-year-old oldest winner.

He was also active in plays and TV dramas, winning the Tony and Emmy Awards, leaving a huge mark.

“My mother prophesied that I would have to wait until I was very old to be recognized in our profession. She was right.”

In fact, Plummer confessed that he did not like the role of the Colonel of Sound of Music, which made him a star, saying that it was not fun and one-dimensional.

However, his passion for acting in various fields seems to be remembered for a long time by movie fans.

“I love my job. I want to die on stage. That’s what I really want.”
