The Beijing Winter Olympics are also approaching a year ahead of time, with question marks still standing behind the Tokyo Olympics in July.

In February 2018, the PyeongChang Winter Olympics ended brilliantly, and the promised meeting time came a year ahead.

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will be held for 17 days in Beijing, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou in China from February 4th next year.

Currently, there are more concerns than expected.

This is because even the holding of the Tokyo Summer Olympics in July, which has been postponed for one year due to the corona pandemic, cannot be guaranteed.

As if conscious of this, Chinese President Xi Jinping has repeatedly emphasized the holding of the Beijing Olympics by talking with IOC Chairman Thomas Bach and visiting the Olympic preparation site in person.

“We are full of confidence that we can host a splendid and special Winter Olympics. As President Xi Jinping said, we have strong support in every way.”

However, the situation is not optimistic, as the Olympic demonstration events scheduled for January and February this year and test events are canceled one after another.

The Taegeuk Warriors’ medal challenge is also a thorny path.

In addition to the medal field Short Track, speed skating was unable to compete for the national team due to the coronavirus, and eventually gave up participation in the World Championships this season.

Eligibility for the Olympics is determined by the World Cup series scores for the next season, but as the season has been skipped, the burden of actual battles has increased.

Sledding and snow sports such as skeletons and skis are trained abroad, but this is also a situation that is difficult due to many variables caused by coronavirus.
