The European Union and EU have officially approved the use of AstraZeneca, one of the COVID-19 vaccines.
However, there is still controversy over the age of use in EU member states, such as France recommending access only to those under the age of 65.

“We are pleased to announce the positive comments regarding the approval of AstraZeneca’s vaccine for COVID-19.”
Following the recommendation of the European Medicines Agency, the European Union and the European Commission have approved AstraZeneca’s conditional use for the third time after Pfizer and Modena.
However, doubts about the effectiveness of using the elderly remained.
This is because a significant number of clinical trial subjects ranged from 18 to 55 years of age, and there were no sufficient results for those aged 55 or older.
For this reason, even with the recommendation of vaccination for all age groups over 18 years of age, the use of the elderly is still raised, and some EU countries are not accepting it.
In fact, Italy recommended first vaccination until the age of 54, and recently issued a revised opinion that vaccination is possible even if they are 55 years of age or older if they are healthy.
In Germany and Sweden, vaccination was only recommended for people under the age of 65.
France is also added here.
The French president and health officials have reviewed AstraZeneca’s data and pointed out that data on 65 and older are still lacking.
He said that according to the strategy, medical staff under the age of 60 started vaccination to expand the scope.
“I would suggest vaccinations for people who are at high risk to the elderly, but we will not give AstraZeneca vaccine to those over 65.”
However, unlike Pfizer and modders or vaccines, it is easy to store, so it can be given at a pharmacy.
