The platform city is expected to be completed in 2025 with a total project cost of 6,285.1 billion won in Bojeong-dong, Mabuk-dong, and Singal-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si.

Project implementers such as Gyeonggi Province and Yongin City, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH), and Yongin City Corporation have created a GTX-based transportation hub, economic self-sufficient city, and eco-friendly city in order to develop Platform City as a new growth hub city in the southern metropolitan area. A development plan is being established as a goal.

Yongin City said that as a result of monitoring the status of land transactions in Platform City from May 2019 to January this year, there were 65 land equity transactions that were suspected of the purpose of compensation for large land (a method of compensation with land instead of cash).

This is only 0.48% of the total area of the platform city, but the city decided to adjust the volume of countermeasures and set detailed standards in the second half of this year to block speculative forces and prevent damage to local residents.

For the same purpose, the city previously designated 60.1 ㎢ of the entire Wonsam-myeon area, where the SK Semiconductor Cluster was built, as a land transaction permission zone for three years from March 2019.

In addition, the city recently conducted a self-investigation of all employees in departments related to these business districts. As a result of the investigation, it was confirmed that no employees owned the land in the project district.

The city plans to expand the survey targets to all employees of the City Hall and Yongin City Corporation and their families.

Yongin Mayor Baek Gun-ki said, “It is unacceptable for public officials to speculate using internal information.”
