Yellow sand covered in the yellow sky of Beijing… First warning issued this year

On the 15th, Beijing, the capital of China, was covered with yellow sand.

The Beijing City Meteorological Agency issued a yellow sand yellow warning for the first time this year. The meteorological station predicted that the visibility range would be less than 1 km in most areas of the morning due to yellow dust, the Chinese newspaper network reported.

On this day, Monday, the yellow dust overlapped, causing severe congestion on the way to work in Beijing.

Beijing authorities urged children, the elderly, and patients not to go out.

According to the China Environmental Monitoring Center website, the real-time air quality index (AQI) in Beijing at 8 am on this day reached the highest level of 500, and the pollution level was the worst level of’severe pollution’ (AQI 301 to 500).

The main pollutant was PM 10, which is mainly yellow dust. The concentration of PM 10 reached 1370 µg/m 3 at 8 am. In some areas, the concentration of PM 10 once exceeded 2,000 ㎍/㎥.

As of 8 o’clock, the concentration of ultrafine dust (PM 2.5) was 223㎍/㎥.

In Beijing, it was difficult to open my eyes outdoors due to the yellow dust that came with the strong wind that day.

The yellow sand drove south from southern Mongolia the night before and reached Beijing this morning.

Beijing suffered from air pollution from ultrafine dust last week as well.

Meanwhile, the State Forestry and Grassland Bureau of China recently predicted that yellow dust will hit six to nine times in northern China this year.
