[투데이에너지 조대인 기자] As the facility improvement work to double the charging capacity of the Yangjae Hydrogen Charging Station was completed, it was reopened on March 1 and entered full-scale operation.

Yangjae Hydrogen Charging Station was the first hydrogen charging station in Seoul, installed for research in 2010, and operated until 2019.

In order to expand the supply of hydrogen vehicles, which is one of the Seoul Green New Deal policies, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has undertaken facility improvement work to improve it as a commercial hydrogen charging facility from December last year to February 17 this year.

Yangjae Hydrogen Charging Station, which has completed the facility improvement work, has a hydrogen storage capacity of more than 2.5 times a day from 120kg to 350kg, and the number of vehicles that can be charged a day has also expanded by about three times from 24 to 70.

It is expected that the inconvenience of citizens using hydrogen vehicles, who have suffered from the shortage of charging infrastructure in Seoul, will be resolved somewhat.

Considering the normal hydrogen charging cycle, which uses 8 days on a single charge, the reopening of the Yangjae hydrogen charging station increases the number of vehicles that can supply hydrogen vehicles by about 560, the Seoul city explained.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government emphasized that it has carried out a facility improvement project at Yangjae Hydrogen Charging Station with safety as a top priority.

He explained that he made every effort to ensure facility safety by receiving safety preliminary consulting during the construction process, as well as receiving three-stage safety inspections including technical review, intermediate inspection, and completion inspection from Korea Gas Safety Corporation, a gas safety organization.

In the future operation process, safety is a top priority through safety inspections, self-inspection, and external inspections at least twice a year.

Yangjae Hydrogen Charging Station is open all year round from March 1 except on Chuseok and New Year’s Day.

It can be used 14 hours a day (08:00-22:00).

The charging fee is 8,800 won/kg, the same as that of private hydrogen charging stations in Seoul, and 100% reservation is required to minimize waiting time and prevent traffic congestion.

Reservations can be made through the smartphone application’H2care’.

Yangjae hydrogen charging station provides charging service for up to 5 units per hour and up to 70 units per day.

‘Sangam Hydrogen Station’, a public hydrogen charging station located in Mapo-gu, which opened in October last year and is operating free of charge, will also be charged the same charge as the Yangjae Hydrogen Charging Station from March 1.

From March to February of next year, for a period of one year, a 30% discount is given to the charging fee for hydrogen cars registered in the autonomous district where hydrogen charging stations are installed.

This is 44,000 won per charge of about 5kg per hydrogen car, and the driving distance is about 481km.For Yangjae Hydrogen Charging Station, vehicles registered in Seocho-gu and Sangam Hydrogen Charging Station are registered in Mapo-gu.

Prior to the official opening, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has a three-day trial operation period from the 26th to the 28th, and checks the service operation. During this period, only 10 hours (from 12:00 to 22:00) and the recharge amount is free.

However, even during the trial charging period, it operates on a reservation basis, and it provides charging service for up to 50 vehicles a day, and reservations are possible from 12:00 on the 25th.

Seoul Mayor Seo Jeong-hyup visited the Yangjae Hydrogen Charging Station on the 25th, before the reopening, and checked the preparation for the opening.

While boarding a hydrogen car and checking the charging demonstration, check the safety of major facilities such as chargers, hydrogen compressors, storage containers, and hydrogen tube trailers (hydrogen storage and transportation equipment), and follow the safety management plan from Seoul Energy Corporation, the operator. I heard an explanation.

At the meeting with experts in the field of Green New Deal and hydrogen, we also discussed the safety of hydrogen charging stations, the direction of the hydrogen economy, and the current status of the Green New Deal.

There are three hydrogen charging stations in Seoul, Sangam, Gangdong Sangil, and the National Assembly, and when Yangjae hydrogen charging stations open, 4 hydrogen charging stations will be operated.

Seo Jeong-hyup, acting mayor of Seoul, said, “With the opening of the Yangjae hydrogen charging station equipped with the latest facilities and more than double the charging capacity, the inconvenience of the citizens using hydrogen vehicles, which has been suffering from the lack of charging infrastructure, will be relieved. We will alleviate citizens’ anxiety about hydrogen charging stations by operating them with a focus, and we will continue to expand hydrogen charging infrastructure to expand the supply of hydrogen vehicles, leading hydrogen-based economic growth and a green new deal, and actively respond to the climate crisis.”
