With the spread of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) unabated, 40,000 spectators filled the stadium before the opening of the home game of the Texas Rangers, the US major league club.

The Hill reported that the opening game of the home game against the Toronto Blue Jays held on the 5th (local time) at Globe Life Field, home of the Texas Rangers, has sold out.

The Texas club announced that the game held that day had 38,238 spectators crowded in the 40,000-seat stadium.

Looking at the photos posted on the Social Network Service (SNS), fans who visited the stadium did not wear masks and were not keeping social distance.

The Texas club cautioned not to take off the mask except when eating or drinking before the game, but few fans adhered to it.

According to CBS Sports, major league clubs other than Texas clubs limit the number of spectators to about 25% of their capacity. Houston Estros, based in Texas, also decided to receive only half of its capacity for the month of April.

The Texas club’s not limiting spectators seems to be related to last month’s announcement by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to ease quarantine guidelines, including lifting masks.

US President Joe Biden criticized the Texas club as “a mistake” for not limiting the number of spectators, and said “they should follow the warnings of Anthony Pouch and other experts.”

However, he added, “we do not have the right to force them.”

Meanwhile, the Texas Rangers recruited Yang Hyun-jong, who played in Korean professional baseball ahead of this season, as the club Choo Shin-soo played for seven years until last year.

Yang Hyun-jong, who signed a split contract with the Texas Rangers, was not disappointed in the opening 40-man roster.
