[개근질닷컴] A study found that blood type A is the most susceptible to novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
A research team at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in the U.S. revealed that a study on the correlation between the receptor-binding domain (RBD) on the surface of the Corona 19 virus and each blood type showed that the virus most favored binding to type A.
In other words, it means that blood type A is most likely to be infected with the Corona 19 virus and to be confirmed.
RBD is the part of a virus that sticks to host cells (cells that parasitic microbes can infect) and is an important factor in understanding how infection occurs.
Specifically, the research team said that the Corona 19 virus RBD prefers to recognize and adhere to the blood type A antigen found in the lungs of people with type A blood type.
He added that there was no preference for red blood cells in the type A blood group or for respiratory cells and red blood cells in other blood groups.
The results of a study that blood type O is the least likely to get Corona 19 and that type A is vulnerable have previously been raised by other research institutes.
In a preliminary study of 750,000 people, US genetic analysis company 23 Andy said that the likelihood that type O participants were positive for Corona 19 was 9-18% lower than that of other blood types. Similar results were obtained at Columbia University in New York. However, in this result, an analysis result was obtained that only Rh+O type possessing the Rh antigen has a low proportion of corona19 confirmed patients.
At the same time, last year, a team of Wuhan Zhongnan Hospital surveyed 2,000 Wuhan patients, and found that type O was relatively strong in resistance, type A was the most vulnerable and had a high mortality rate.
Of the 206 deaths, 85 had blood type A (41%), and type O (52) had the lowest (25%). However, this was a question of statistics as the proportion of the population of type A was relatively high and the sample was also small at 2,000.
However, in a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine last June, a study that showed that type A has a high risk of suffering from severe corona19 and respiratory failure at 50%, whereas type O has a 50% lower risk.
In the end, the results of the latest research show that the Corona 19 virus better recognizes specific antigens found in type A lungs and has a relatively higher infection rate and mortality rate.
