After the Corona 19 pandemic last year, a survey found that the wealth of billionaires around the world has increased by more than 50%.

According to the US Think Tank Policy Institute (IPS), the wealth of over 2,300 billionaires around the world has increased by 54% in just one year, from 840 trillion dollars or 9,097 trillion Korean dollars to 1,290 billion dollars.

Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos ranked first with $178 billion, up 57%, while Bernard Arno and family of the French Louis Vuitton Group ranked second with $166.2 billion, up 114%.

Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, Bill Gates, Microsoft founder, and Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, followed.

The institute explained that many of these are related to companies that have benefited greatly from the reduction of competitors following the Corona 19 pandemic.

In Korea, a total of 38 people have been named on the world’s list of billionaires.

Nexon founder Kim Jeong-joo, CEO of NXC, ranked 144th, the highest ranking among Koreans, with 14.1 billion dollars.

Celltrion Chairman Seo Jeong-jin ranked 150th, Kakao Chairman Kim Bum-soo ranked 236th, and Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-koo ranked 287th and 455th, respectively.

The institute said that if it collects extreme wealth tax from them, it will reach $345 billion a year.

This is more than double the cost of providing the COVID-19 vaccine to everyone around the world at $141.2 billion.

On the other hand, the institute pointed out that Corona 19 last year caused negative growth in the global economy, adversely affects the poor, and accelerated global imbalance.
