With technology… By number… Korean company that became the main character of CES | Hankyung.com

341 Korean companies participated… 2nd place after the US
Leading home economy and mobility technology
Chinese companies rose to a sixth of last year

Korean companies are expected to become the protagonists of the world’s largest IT (information technology) and home appliance exhibition’CES 2021′, which is about to rise on the 11th (local time). There are 1964 companies participating in this CES (as of 10 days). In the aftermath of Corona 19, the number of participating companies fell to less than half of 4,500 last year. The aftermath of a sharp drop in Chinese companies that once swept CES from 1,368 last year to 203 this year was big. Korean companies fill this void.

According to the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) on the 10th, the country with the most companies participating in this year’s CES is the United States. A total of 569 companies voted out. Korea ranked 2nd, surpassing China with 341 companies participating.

Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, which presented future technology trends one step ahead of competitors at CES this year, will take the lead. The new technology of’homeconomy’, which means that the house has been expanded to a space for various economic activities beyond a residential space due to Corona 19, will be introduced.

Among electronic component makers, LG Display stands out. Under the theme of’Display, now the world in front of you’, we participated in CES 2021 and introduced next-generation products such as OLED (organic light-emitting diode) displays that bend and sound.

We are also interested in what technologies will be poured into the mobility (mobile means) field. The attention is focused on Samsung Electronics, Harman International, a subsidiary of electronic parts, and Magna, the world’s third largest auto parts company, which has decided to establish a joint venture with LG Electronics for electric vehicle powertrain.

Mando, an auto parts maker participating in CES for the first time this year, unveils a free-mounted advanced driving system (SbW). The vehicle’s interior space was improved by connecting the chassis and steering wheel with electric signals. GS Caltex, which is transforming into a mobility company, also makes its first appearance at CES. It introduces a drone that carries goods based on a gas station, and a futuristic gas station where gas, car washing, charging, and vehicle sharing are performed in one space.

An industry insider said, “This year, CES will be a place where you can confirm the leading positions of Korean companies.”
