The late Park Won-soon, former mayor of Seoul, the victim of the sexual assault case revealed his feelings in public on the 17th for the first time. It was 252 days after Mayor Park’s death.

However, in conjunction with the news that a book on the death of former mayor Park Park will be published on the 19th, some interpretations suggest that the book affected the victims.
Ohmynews reporter Son Byung-gwan, who was a reporter at the Seoul City Hall during his tenure as Mayor Park, collected statements about his death through a book entitled The Birth of Tragedy. The book contains statements from former and current public officials who worked in the mayor’s office of Seoul from 2015 to 2020, attorneys on the victim’s side, representatives of women’s organizations, and reporters who directly heard the victim’s appeal. In particular, it is reported that the testimony of former Mayor Park aides that the victims claimed to have been victims of sexual violence was “a victim’s request”. The publisher added an introductory phrase to the book, saying, “A shocking disproving that you can’t even imagine, a continuing reversal.” On-line, criticisms such as “Isn’t this the second offense?” and “Can the victim not come out?” were raised.
This book is scheduled to be published on the 19th, but it has already become a best seller. It was ranked 3rd in the Kyobo Bookstore’s Political/Social Weekly Best, and was also included in the top 20 of the Political/Social department in Yes24.
On the other hand, the victim A said, “I want to speak before it is too late,” and said, “His power prevented me from saying that he was wrong about his fault. His power continues to torment me with people who do not admit his faults even after he died.”
