In addition to Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors, which are trying to protect the home that Tesla looks like, four German premium brands that lead the domestic imported car market will be competitively presenting electric cars that have not existed.

According to the domestic and imported car industry on the 3rd, Hyundai Motor Company will launch Ioniq 5, the first car of the pure electric brand’Ioniq’ in February as soon as possible.

Kia Motors also releases CV (code name). Genesis, a premium brand of Hyundai Motor Group, also sells eG80 and JW (codename).

Imported brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi, which are the big three, are also trying to recapture the electric car market.

BMW Korea is releasing iX3 in the first half and iX in the second half. Mercedes-Benz Korea is also preparing to release EQA and EQS.

According to the Korea Imported Automobile Association and the Kaizu-U Data Research Institute, the number of imported electric cars sold in Korea from January to November this year is 14,2929 units. It increased 3.9 times from the same period last year (3748 units).

Tesla vehicles sold 11,601 vehicles over the same period. About 8 out of 10 imported electric vehicles are Tesla vehicles. By car type, the Model 3 was the most with 10,866 units. 422 units of Model X and 313 units of Model S were counted.

Hyundai Motor, a leader in domestic electric vehicles, sold 11,7971 passenger and commercial electric vehicles during the same period. Including the hydrogen electric vehicle Nexo, there are 23,424 units.

The home market was kept. My pride was hurt. This is because it gave Tesla the number one position in sales by car type. The No. 1 domestic electric vehicle sales is Kona EV. The number of units sold is 7888. There are about 4,000 fewer than the Model 3. This is because the number of units sold decreased by 39.3% from the same period last year (12,8787 units).

Concept Car 45 [사진 제공 = 현대차] Hyundai Motor Group sharpened its sword to protect the home market and restore pride. Hyundai Motor Company’s Ioniq 5 is at the forefront of Tesla attack.
Ioniq 5 is a semi-medium CUV based on the concept car ’45’ that Hyundai Motor Company first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany in 2019.

The E-GMP to be applied to Ionic 5 is designed with an optimized structure for electric vehicles, unlike conventional electric vehicles that utilize the platform of an internal combustion engine vehicle.

The 800V high voltage charging system and 400V/800V multi-fast charging system were applied to shorten the charging time.

It can be charged up to 80% within 18 minutes by using a super fast charger. When fully charged, it can travel more than 500km in domestic standards. It can travel 100km with just a 5-minute charge. In Korea, the Model 3 can run 446km, the Volt EV can run 414km, and the Kona EV can run 406km.

Kia Motors is releasing a CV inspired by the concept car’Imagine by Kia’ in the second half of the year. I used the same platform as Ionic.

Genesis also introduces the G80 electric vehicle model eG80 and JW with E-GMP.
