The WHO said on the 12th (local time) that there was no reason to stop using the Corona 19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca, AFP news agency reported.

Spokesman Margaret Harris said at a video briefing at the United Nations Office in Geneva that the WHO’s Vaccine Advisory Committee is currently reviewing safety data, and stressed that a causal link between vaccines and blood clots has not been established.

“We looked at data on deaths. So far, no deaths from vaccination have been shown,” he said.

“The AstraZeneca vaccine is just as good as any other vaccine in use,” he said. “We have to keep using the AstraZeneca vaccine.”

WHO secretary general Thewardros Adhanom Gobrujeusus also said at a regular video press briefing on the same day, “WHO is based on reports that some people vaccinated with vaccines produced in two manufacturing units developed blood clots. “We know that we have stopped using the product,” he said. “This measure was carried out as a precaution while sufficient investigation was completed.”

“It is important to note that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has indicated that there is no indication of a blood clot association with this vaccine, and that the vaccine can continue to be used during the investigation.”

“The WHO’s Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety is systematically reviewing safety signals, and is currently scrutinizing reports on AstraZeneca vaccines.”

“As soon as WHO has a full understanding of the case, we will immediately communicate the findings and any changes to our current recommendations to the public.”

Recently, European countries that temporarily discontinue use of AstraZeneca vaccine for some or all of the manufacturing units have appeared one after another.

These countries are taking these measures as a prophylactic measure after reports of blood clots forming in some of the vaccine’s vaccinators.
