WHO “Confirms the possibility of corona 19 transmission from humans to animals

It was the first time that a companion animal was infected with corona in Korea. According to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the infected animal was a kitten raised at the Jinju International Prayer Center in Gyeongnam, where the recent outbreak occurred, and it was confirmed that it was infected with the corona in the course of epidemiological investigation and coping. “It is known that the likelihood that animals will transmit corona to humans is extremely low,” the authorities explained, but it is not impossible at all, so there are voices saying that relevant guidelines should be prepared. The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that it has confirmed the possibility that the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) can be transmitted from humans to animals such as cats, dogs, minks, raccoons, lions, and tigers.

“Corona 19 virus is mainly transmitted through human-to-human infection, but there is evidence of animal-to-animal transmission.” “Some animals, such as mink, dog, domestic cat, lion, tiger, and raccoon, who have been in contact with people have tested positive for Corona 19,” he said.

Earlier, the WHO Corona 19 Origin Investigation Team concluded that Corona 19 is a common infectious disease that can be transmitted by both animals and humans, and it is highly likely that the coronavirus in bats was infected as a human through another animal host.

President Buzhnović also said that the intermediate animal host has not yet been identified. “We are working on research to see if the virus affects other species of animals,” he said. “It is important to know which animals are most susceptible to the virus in order to find a source of infection and avoid further explosive outbreaks in the future.”

“WHO recommends limiting contact with pets by those who test positive for coronavirus,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Russian Federation’s Animal and Plant Hygiene Supervisory Authority (Rosselkhoznadzor) approved’Carnivac-Cov’, an animal corona 19 vaccine developed by the Russian Federation Animal Health Protection Center, for the first time in the world on the 31st of last month. According to the supervisory authority, the clinical results conducted in October last year showed that the antibody production effect was 100% and the estimated immune protection period was 6 months, and mass production will begin from this month.
