The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that one in three women in the world suffers lifelong sexual and physical violence.

According to the AP and Bloomberg News on the 9th (local time), a study conducted by the WHO on the world’s largest scale found that one in three women suffered sexual and physical violence throughout their lives.

The WHO said that violence begins at a fairly early age, and that one-quarter of young women in their 15th to mid-20s who have dating experience have experienced violence by intimate partners such as lovers.

The age group who suffered the most violence was women aged 30 to 39 years old.

By region, South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa had higher levels of violence, while Southern and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and East Asia had the lowest levels.

The WHO also added that only 6% of women in the survey were reported to have been sexually assaulted by someone other than their partners.

This study was conducted by analyzing data collected from 161 countries from 2010 to 2018, and did not include the effects of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

During this period, the number of women over the age of 15 who suffered sexual and physical violence was confirmed to be about 736 million.

The WHO predicted that domestic violence would have increased further as many people stayed in their homes after Corona 19, and predicted that the number of violence cases would have increased further after Corona 19.

WHO Secretary General Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus said, “Female violence is rampant in all countries and cultures, damaging millions of women and their families.” .

“The government, the individual and the community should help solve this problem,” he continued.
