The White House said that the new US President Joe Biden agreed on the necessity of a complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula in a phone call with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga on the morning of the 28th.

The White House Public Affairs Office said on its website that President Biden and Prime Minister Suga discussed the US-Japan alliance and regional security issues, including China and North Korea, in a phone call that day.

The White House Public Affairs Office said, “(The leaders of the United States and Japan) confirmed the need for an early resolution of the issue of complete denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and abduction (Japanese).”

He added, “We promised to work together to curb the global corona19 epidemic, tackle climate change, and expand our shared and valued, global security and prosperity.”

Earlier, Japanese media such as NHK reported that Prime Minister Suga had a phone call with President Biden for about 30 minutes before 1 am on the day. This is the first time since his inauguration that President Biden has spoken to the heads of Asian countries.

However, Prime Minister Suga told reporters that the Tokyo Olympics were not mentioned in the call.
