It has been confirmed that an incumbent councilor in Mapo-gu, Seoul was caught in crackdown for violating the order to prohibit the spread of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

According to the Mapo Police Station on the 29th, Mapo-gu Councilman A was caught by a joint crackdown team of the Ward Office and the police at a party room near Hapjeong Station at around 11 pm the previous night.

At the time, the party room seemed not to be open outside, but a report was received stating that’there is a sound of a crowd gathering’. The party room was confirmed to be included in the group ban.

Mapo-gu Office requested the police for cooperation, and officials of the ward office and police officers of the Mapo Police Station were immediately dispatched. It is reported that there were five people at the site, including Mr. A and the party room owner.

Earlier, the government banned meetings of five or more people at restaurants nationwide from the 24th to the 3rd of next year as a special anti-quarantine measure during the year-end and New Year holidays. If this is violated, a fine of 3 million won or less to the operator and 100,000 won or less to the user is imposed.

Accordingly, it is expected that the five people who met, including Mr. A, will be fined less than 100,000 won, and the party room owner will be fined less than 3 million won.

An official from the police explained, “When a noise report came in, I was dispatched to the party room at Hapjeong Station, and five people were gathered.” He added, “The ward office was in charge of violating the infectious disease prevention method and called the ward office official to take action and return home. After that, the ward office may be fined for negligence, and criminal penalties may also be obtained.
