Singer Whee-seong (real name Choi Hwi-seong, 39), who was handed over to trial on charges of habitually administering Propofol, was sentenced to probation from imprisonment at the first trial.

The court judged Wheesung guilty of taking drugs, but sentenced him to probation. Judge Cho pointed out, “The accused is a famous entertainer who has been loved and popular by the public, and the influence is large, so he has to show a higher compliance consciousness and example, but he couldn’t.”

Wheesung was accused of taking propofol several times with his acquaintance A in December 2019. In the process of receiving and confirming drug-related intelligence, the police caught Wheesung’s charges of purchasing Propofol, and sent him to the prosecution in April last year with an opinion of prosecution.

It wasn’t the first time that Wheesung was suspicious of taking propofol. He was investigated by the prosecution while serving in the military in 2013 for routine administration of Propofol at various places, including dermatology clinics in Gangnam, Seoul from 2011 to early 2013, but was sentenced to no charge in July of that year.
In addition, in March and April of last year, he was found fallen after taking etomidate, a sleeping anesthetic drug, in a bathroom in a building in Songpa-gu, Seoul. However, the drug was not classified as narcotics, but Wheesung was taken home after an investigation by a reference person.
At the time, Wheesung said, “I am having a difficult time with my father’s sudden death and the successive deaths of acquaintances who worked with him and the difficult events related to last year.” He said that he was admitted to a related hospital. He is currently undergoing psychiatric treatment and is faithfully responding to police investigations,” he said.
