Princess Sheika Latifa, daughter of the Dubai ruler and a member of the UAE’s royal family, claimed to be incarcerated by her father and threatened her life. Princess Latifa, born in 1985 and 36 this year, claimed this in a video released by the BBC on the 16th (local time). His father, Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is Vice President of the UAE and the highest authority in Dubai. One of his 30 children is Princess Latipa. Princess Latifa did not show her face in public after being caught trying to escape to the United States in 2018, saying, “My father suppresses my freedom,” and “I would rather bake hamburger patties to make a living.” Haya Vint Al Hussein, one of Sheikh Al Maktoum’s wives, is also hiding in London, England, to avoid him.

Princess Latifa said in a video released by the BBC, “Now I’m trapped in a jail mansion,” and “more than five bodyguards are watching me and threatening’If I do wrong, I’ll never see the sun again. Princess Latipa sat down crouching in a place believed to be a bathroom and took a selfie video in a low voice. “Because I’m the only place that isn’t supervised,” he explained about the choice of place. Princess Latipa asked for help, saying, “I can’t get help from the medical staff and I’m trapped alone.”

The video was sent by his Finnish friend Tina Sauhainen, the BBC explained. Sauhainen was also the person who accompanied Princess Latipa in 2018 when she tried to escape to the United States via the Indian Ocean by yacht. Since then, he has appealed to human rights organizations such as the United Nations, saying that the freedom of Princess Latipa should be found. In this video, Princess Latipa also explained the attempt to escape in 2018, which ended in failure. “Suddenly more than 15 commandos came into the yacht, and one of them tried to give me a shot.” I lost consciousness.”

Princess Lapita was caught trying to escape in 2016 as well. He said, “My father is watching my every step of the way,” he said. “I live a life under surveillance, even when and where I move, and even what I eat.”

But Sheikh Al Maktoum’s argument is different. His defenders are arguing that Princess Latipa suffers from bipolar disorder and therefore needs protection. The father’s argument is that he is protecting, not confinement.

Public opinion, however, is leaning toward the daughter rather than the father. There are constant suspicions that Sheikh Al Maktoum is suppressing the human rights of female families, not only Princess Latipa, but also Queen Haya. The BBC said, “(Princess Latifa’s friend) Zauhainen handed over the video to the United Nations, etc.” It seems that it could not rule out the possibility of a secret story even as a female human rights issue.

Sheikh Al Maktoum is also aware of the criticism of the oppression of women’s rights and has taken steps to defeat him. It is representative of the support of various programs for women’s leadership led by Ivanka, the daughter of former US President Donald Trump. Ivanka Trump even expressed his gratitude for the generous support of Sheikh Al Maktoum at a forum.
