As LG Electronics decided to end its smartphone business, consumers’ minds are also in a hurry. LG Electronics has promised that there will be no problems with the after-sales support, but there are increasing cases of inquiries to the call center or receiving after-sales service (AS) in a hurry.

According to the mobile industry on the 7th, after the announcement of the end of LG Electronics’ smartphone business, consumers’ call center inquiries are continuing.

An official from LG Electronics said, “From the day of the announcement, more and more inquiries were made to the call center about how to update the smartphone software and follow-up support such as after-sales service.”

There were also customers who delayed repairs for minor damage or breakdowns and then urgently visited the service center after this announcement.

Office worker A said, “I was writing the display liquid crystal with cracks, and as soon as I heard this announcement, I made a reservation for a visit to the AS center.” .

However, the previous day, LG Electronics service centers in major areas in Seoul were in the same atmosphere as usual.

An official from LG Electronics also explained, “We are providing detailed guidance on the after-sales support inquiries that come to the call center. As there is not a lot of AS demand right now, there are no special issues in the trend of visitor to the service center.”

Prior to this, LG Electronics announced through a homepage announcement after the end of the smartphone business, “We will continue to provide after-sales service to avoid inconvenience to customers and existing users.”

LG Electronics plans to retain personnel in charge of smartphone AS in the service center for the time being, and maintains consumables such as batteries, chargers, and power cables for a set period of time.

According to the Fair Trade Commission Consumer Dispute Resolution Standard, the smartphone quality guarantee period is 2 years and the parts retention period is 4 years.

Some of the existing smartphone business personnel will be in charge of software maintenance, and software updates are expected to be available for up to two years as before.

An official from LG Electronics said, “As a manufacturer and sales company, we are taking full measures to ensure that there is no lack of responsibility for after-sales support,” and said, “We will do our best to avoid customer inconvenience in software support and after-sales service.”
