“We are not hogu” EU-China nervous war… Investment agreement’shakes’

“Europe and France also have doormats. Is not”

This is a statement by Clement Bonn, the European Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, in a local radio interview on the 23rd (local time). The day before, the Chinese ambassador to France, Ruschaye, set the day when he “appeared late” at the beginning of French Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drien. “As an ambassador, if you have been struck by the other country, it is appropriate to visit the foreign ministry of that country immediately.”

Diplomatic tensions between the European Union and China are escalating. On the 23rd (local time), if European media such as France24 and Deutscheville were synthesized, seven European countries including France and Germany invited Chinese ambassadors to their respective countries. This is to protest the previous day that China imposed sanctions on 10 EU personnel and 4 groups.

According to France24, Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drien said on Twitter the previous day that he had invited Ambassador Lou, saying, “I cannot accept the comments made by the Chinese ambassador to the European Parliament to members of the European Parliament, diplomats and researchers.”

The problem with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs was Ambassador Lou’s remarks against incumbent lawmakers and think tank scholars. Ambassador Lu recently criticized China by taking the side of Taiwan, saying they were’young bullies’,’crazy hyenas’, and’ideological instigators’. The dissatisfaction exploded when the Chinese government even sanctioned Europe the day before.

The problem expanded further as Ambassador Lu responded promptly to the foreign ministry’s draft. Ambassador Lou appeared only on the 23rd, a day after Chochi. The Financial Times (FT) said that Ambassador Lou had anointed the conflict between the two countries by showing a diplomatic rude not responding immediately to French notifications.

The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called in the Chinese Ambassador of Germany to Wuken on the 22nd for an’urgent talk’.

The German Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Secretary-General Miguel Berger summoned Uken’s ambassador and pointed out that “China’s imposing sanctions on EU parliamentarians, scientists, political institutions and non-governmental organizations is an inappropriate measure that creates unnecessary tensions.”

In addition, Chinese ambassadors such as Denmark, Belgium, Lithuania, Sweden, and Italy were invited to convey their intention that sanctions against European personnel and organizations were “unacceptable”.

Sanctions-right sanctions… Heightened conflict

The tension between the two sides was triggered on the 22nd when the EU sanctioned four Chinese officials and one organization for human rights violations. The EU saw that they were responsible for the suppression of human rights in the Xinjiang Uyghur region and restricted their assets to be frozen and entry into the EU region. It was the first time the EU imposed sanctions on China for human rights issues in 30 years or so after the Tiananmen (Tiananmen) incident in 1989.

China responded immediately. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs refuted that “the EU violated China’s sovereignty and interests, and maliciously spread lies and fake information.”

At the same time, the European Parliament, members of the Netherlands, Belgium and Lithuania, and the Political Safety Committee of the EU Council announced sanctions on 10 European officials and 4 organizations.

7 years of elaborate EU-China investment protection agreement’shaken’

The EU-China Comprehensive Investment Protection Agreement (CAI), which both sides agreed in December last year over the unprecedented conflict between the EU and China, is also shaking.

The 27 EU member states and China agreed in principle to conclude a CAI on December 30 last year. It was an achievement through 30 negotiations over 7 years. Instead of making economic concessions to the EU, China was praised for winning a diplomatic victory by punching a hole in the US siege.

However, in response to China’s aggressive response recently, some European Parliament members warned that they would not ratify the investment agreement. European Parliament’s Trade Commissioner Bernd Lang wrote on Twitter with a warning to withdraw sanctions against China, saying, “China’s action against the EU will be counterproductive.” In addition, in some member countries, including France, public opinion against ratification of the investment protection agreement is spreading, CNBC said.
