The gap between the people’s strength and the power of the people also narrowed to within 10 percentage points.

In a survey released on the same day by Gallup Korea’s survey of 1002 people aged 18 years or older across the country for three days from the 2nd to the 4th (±3.1% points for a 95% confidence level for a sample error), the Democratic Party’s approval rating was 32%. It was down 4 percentage points from the previous week. The approval rate of the people’s power was calculated to be 24%, up 1 percentage point from the previous week, narrowing the gap between the two parties to 8 percentage points.

After the Moon Jae-in administration was inaugurated, the gap between the two parties’ support has narrowed to a single digit, the third week since the third week of October 2019 (9 percentage points) and the second week of August 2020 (6 percentage points).

It is analyzed that the conflict that occurred with the Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol as the Democratic Party pursued the complete deprivation of the prosecution’s right to investigate and the establishment of the Heavy Crimes Investigation Office (the Heavy Water Service).

In this survey, the Democratic Party’s approval rate in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam (PK) regions where the Busan Mayor’s by-election is held on the 7th of next month recorded 24%, and the people’s support rate was 33%. In a survey conducted on the 23rd to 25th of last month and released on the 26th, the Democratic Party was 35% and the people’s strength 27%.

Earlier, President Moon Jae-in visited Busan on the 25th of last month and said in the sea near Gadeokdo Island, “My heart is thrilled to see the new airport planned, let’s make it happen.” The next day, the National Assembly handled a special law on the Gadeok Island New Airport. However, after that, the approval ratings of the Democratic Party and the people were reversed.

This week, the approval rate of political parties in the Seoul area was 31% for the Democratic Party and 28% for the people’s strength. The Democratic Party approval rate fell 5 percentage points from last week, and the people’s power approval rate rose 5 percentage points.

Unlike the Democratic Party approval rate, the approval rate for President Moon Jae-in rose 1 percentage point to 40%. The negative evaluation also fell 1 percentage point to 51%.
