Episode 1 of’Romance’ tells the story of Kim Jung-soo who meets his wife who passed away four years ago through virtual reality technology.

Kim Jung-soo and five children made a Christmas tree and remembered his wife and mother, Seong Ji-hye. Kim Jung-soo showed a happy smile while explaining the first appearance and clothes of his wife Seong Ji-hye, whom he met like fate on Christmas Eve on December 24th.

The production team prepared a meeting between Kim Jung-soo and his wife, Seong Ji-hye, in virtual reality. The MBC Design Center VFX (special video) team in charge of VR production implemented the image of a wife in a virtual space based on photos, videos, and family memories. In this process, the production team used an optical motion capture method using over 100 high-resolution cameras to accurately express the appearance of Jihye Seong, the mother of five children and the wife of Kim Jeong-soo.

​After all the preparations were over, Kim Jung-soo, who entered the MBC Virtual Studio to meet his wife, couldn’t talk for a while because his eyes were red and his emotions were overwhelming. Kim Jung-soo, who wore the equipment and saw the familiar space in virtual reality, called his wife’s name “Wee Hye” and ended up crying, breaking the hearts of viewers.

On the other hand, following episode 1 of’Romance’, a story of miracles and emotions containing a reunion with his wife in virtual reality, MBC’s 60th anniversary VR human documentary’Meet You’ Season 2 and’Romance’ Episode 2 will be on Thursday night, January 28. It is scheduled to air at 9:20.
