The 4·7 re-and by-election elections are held from 6 am to 8 pm at 3,459 polling places in the region, including Seoul and Busan. You can only vote at designated polling places, and you must bring a photo ID, such as a resident registration card, passport, driver’s license, etc. Designated polling places can be found in the voting notice sent to each household or at’My Polling Place’ on the Internet website of the Central Election Commission.

The re-elections are held in two regional organizations such as Seoul and Busan mayor, two basic organizations including the head of the Nam-gu office in Ulsan and the head of Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam, 8 regional councils including the Gyeonggi-do and Chungbuk-do council, and the basic council member of Boseong and Gyeongnam Haman-gun, Jeollanam-do. There are 21 places in total. From March last year to February this year, the head of the group and the general council member were vacated for reasons such as invalidation of the election, death or resignation.

When voting, you must be careful of illegal acts under the Public Official Election Act that may invalidate your vote. On the day of the election, △election campaigns are prohibited, △do not photograph ballots inside the voting booth, and △soliciting participation in voting within 100m from the voting booth is not allowed. However, it is possible to post election campaigns and’voting verification shots’ using social network services (SNS) or text messages.

As it is the second’corona election’ since the 21st general election last year, we must follow the rules of conduct. After taking your body temperature and disinfecting your hands at the entrance to the polling place, you must wear plastic gloves and vote. You can vote at the temporary voting booth even if your body temperature is 37.5 degrees or higher or you have respiratory symptoms.

Self-quarantine persons with novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) can also vote. You must arrive at the polling place by 8:00 PM on foot or in your car under the guidance of a dedicated official. You will vote at a temporary voting office after 8 pm when other voters have finished voting.

The counting starts at 8:30 pm, after the vote for the COVID-19 self-quarantine has ended. The results of the broadcaster’s exit survey will be released at 8:15 pm, 15 minutes after the deadline.
