The Korean Medical Association, which had fiercely opposed the bill to revoke the licenses of doctors who committed serious crimes of imprisonment or higher, took a step back after some voices of criticism came out from within the medical community. If this bill passes through the National Assembly Legislative Judicial Committee, the National Assembly has changed its position that there is no definite issue yet to be decided on the National Assembly.

As the National Medical Association pointed out the amendment to this medical law, it was seen that there was a problem with taking a traffic accident as an example of license cancellation.

Professor Kim said, “What doctors fear most is that they are punished for negligence in work due to medical accidents,” said Professor Kim. “It is actually very grateful that I accepted this part as an exception (license cancellation) considering the specificity of medical care. Will” said.
He advised, “The medical association should think well,” he said, “because of 0.1%, 99.9% of the doctor’s honor is degrading because of 0.1%.”
“As a doctor is a profession that deals with people’s lives, a stronger sense of ethics is required, and the people will also want such a doctor,” he added. “From that point of view, I think it is correct to accept this revision of the law.”
Last weekend, the medical council, which discussed the general strike, slightly lowered the level of expression over time.

Prior to this, the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee passed an amendment to the Medical Law, stating that the licenses of doctors sentenced to imprisonment or higher can be revoked.
In the case of imprisonment, the re-issuance of a license is prohibited for 5 years after the end of the sentence and up to 2 years after the expiration of the period of probation. This means that the license can be reissued after a certain period of time.
By reflecting the specialty of the doctor’s job, the license was not revoked in case of punishment for medical negligence that occurred during medical practice.
