A man in his 50s who was running a restaurant after working as a police officer for 20 years was sentenced to prison for raping a foreign part-time student. The man was found to have committed such a crime during probation, particularly for forced harassment.

The 4th Criminal Division of the Changwon District Law (Judge Lee Hun) sentenced Mr. A (54), who was handed over to trial on charges of rape, to 4 years in prison. In addition, it was ordered to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment program and to restrict employment for children, adolescents and disabled welfare facilities for 7 years.

A was arrested for sexual assault on a Vietnamese woman in her twenties who came to work part-time at a restaurant in Seongsan-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do at around 11:23 pm on August 17 last year.

It was investigated that Mr. A committed a crime while drinking alcohol with Mr. B, who worked for the first time after finishing business. After that, when Mr. B contacted his university dormitory acquaintances, a report was filed with the police.

Mr. A insisted that it was “consensual sex,” but the court refused to accept his claim. In particular, it was considered that Mr. A attempted to destroy evidence for the part that’B’s clothes were washed with blood and vomiting’.

Taking off B’s clothes as well as underwear to wash vomit, etc., and leaving them naked means that it is against the rule of thumb. In addition, A, who had been working as a police officer for the past 20 years, did not know this, so it was reasonable to see it as an act that tried to destroy evidence.

In addition, it was confirmed that Mr. A was on a probation period for forced harassment.

The judge said, “Even though the evidence was not properly stored, DNA of the defendant was detected in the victim’s upper and lower garments, both fingernails, and body, etc.” It is difficult to see,” he pointed out.
