Tiger Woods (46, USA), who severely injured his leg in a car rollover accident, will take several months or more to walk again.

UPI news agency reported on the 25th (Korean time), “Experts opinion that it will take several months for Woods to walk again.”

He predicted, “It is unclear whether Woods, who had previously undergone back surgery, will be able to work as a golf player again.”

Woods was in a car and rollover accident on the 24th at Rancho Palos Verdes, near Los Angeles, California.

Woods alone, while driving downhill, hit the center divider and rolled off the road.

After rescue, Woods was taken to the hospital and immediately underwent a complex leg fracture surgery. Fortunately, life is not affected, but the injured condition appears to be at a serious level.

Dr. Joseph Purita, an orthopedic surgeon in Boca Raton, Florida, said through UPI communication, “Even if the recovery speed is fast, it will take six months. You can compete in the game in 2022, but if that happens, it will be tremendous.”

“Woods could walk again. There is a possibility of having a leg incision, but he was an excellent player and has rehabilitation experience, so he can recover completely.”

“It will take several weeks for the wound to heal. It will take several months to get up on its own. Replaying golf is a distant story,” said Dr. Rahul Sha, a spine and neck specialist.

“If the bones are exposed outside the skin, the risk of tissue infection increases,” said Dr. Joseph Patterson of the University of Southern California. “It takes a long time for the wound to heal.”

According to UPI, quarterback Alex Smith of Washington, US Pro Football (NFL) suffered a similar injury to Woods in 2018, underwent 17 surgeries at the time, and it took over two years to recover.

Smith only appeared on the pitch again in October last year.

Meanwhile, Woods’ official social media account said, “Woods is awake and communicative.”
