In the case of nursing care hospitals, 166,000,240 out of 204,592 people eligible for vaccination received the first vaccination, and the vaccination rate reached 81.3%. It means that 4 out of 5 vaccination targets completed vaccination.

Half of the subjects were vaccinated in nursing homes (49.9%), and hospital-level medical institutions (27.2%) were also vaccinating faster.

The vaccination rate of workers in the hospital treating COVID-19 patients who received the Pfizer vaccine is still 9.3%, but the vaccination rate is expected to increase as vaccinations started at regional and local vaccination centers from the 3rd.

With the start of the second quarter less than a month left, it is still unknown how much vaccine will be available in the second quarter.

The quarantine authorities once withheld vaccinations to nursing hospitals, nursing facility admissions, residents and workers over 65 years of age because the AstraZeneca vaccine’s vaccination effect for the elderly was not sufficiently proven.

However, after the UK recently released data proving the effectiveness of vaccination, countries such as Germany and France turned to vaccination of the AstraZeneca vaccine to the elderly as well.

Accordingly, the Korean government also held a vaccination committee this week to discuss whether or not to expand the scope of AstraZeneca vaccination.

Of these, 3,643 cases, which account for 98.8%, are relatively mild symptoms such as headache, fever, and nausea, but nine cases of death were reported, mainly among patients in nursing hospitals.

However, a causal relationship between serious adverse reactions including death and vaccination has not been confirmed yet.

The previous day, the government held a meeting of the’Vaccination Damage Investigation Group’ consisting of clinicians and forensic experts with extensive vaccination experience to examine whether there is a connection between each death case and vaccination.

It is reported that the meeting focused on analyzing whether the deceased usually suffered from chronic diseases (basic diseases) based on the contents of the epidemiological investigation, and whether there are obvious factors that are presumed to be the cause of death.
