After receiving a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine in Korea, more than 900 cases have been reported as suspected of adverse reactions.

According to the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team on the 10th, a total of 935 cases were reported as new adverse reactions after vaccination as of 0 o’clock on the day. The number of death reports increased by two more than the same time the day before, accumulating to 15. One of them was reported as a newly reported case, and the other was initially reported as a seriously suspicious case and died while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit.

According to the promotion team, both of the dead were given the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine. One new dead was a female patient in her 50s who was in a nursing hospital, and died on the 9th, about 146 hours after receiving the vaccine on the 3rd. The promotion team is investigating whether there was an underlying disease. In addition, a patient in the 50s male nursing hospital, previously classified as a serious suspicious case, died on the 9th, about 142 hours after being vaccinated on the 3rd. It was found that the patient suffered from an underlying disease.

The causality between death and vaccination was not confirmed. Earlier, the promotion team revealed that, as a result of the review of the’Vaccination Damage Investigation Group’ meeting held on the 7th, it was tentatively judged as “a case where the causality of adverse reactions and deaths after vaccination is difficult to be recognized” regarding the previously reported 8 death cases.

The number of suspected cases of’anaphylaxis’, a severe systemic allergic reaction, also increased. The remaining 927 cases were reported as relatively mild symptoms such as headache, fever, nausea, and vomiting. As a result, since vaccination began on the 26th of last month, reports of suspected adverse reactions in Korea totaled 5,786 cases. As of 0 o’clock on this day, it is 1.29% of the 468,941 domestic cumulative inoculations.

When reporting adverse reactions by vaccine type, AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine related 5,755 cases, accounting for 99.5% of the total. There were 31 reports (0.5%) related to Pfizer’s vaccine. This appears to be due to the number of AstraZeneca vaccinations (43,890) far more than Pfizer vaccinations (8,051). The reporting rate of adverse reactions compared to those inoculated is 1.31% for AstraZeneca vaccine and 0.39% for Pfizer vaccine.

Dividing by type of adverse reactions other than mild cases reported so far, there are 50 cases of anaphylaxis, 4 cases of serious suspicion including convulsions or admission to the intensive care unit, and 15 cases of death. Of the 50 cases reported so far, 49 cases were anaphylactic reactions and 1 case was anaphylactic shock. Anaphylaxis-like reaction is a case where symptoms such as shortness of breath and urticaria appear within 2 hours after vaccination. The symptoms are similar to anaphylaxis, but it is not a big problem because it can be improved with symptomatic therapy.

The promotion team reported that 5,717 cases, which account for 98.8% of all reports of adverse reactions, were mild cases, such as muscle pain, headache, fever, and nausea, which can often appear after vaccination.
