US Secretary of State Tony Blincoln reaffirmed the principle on the 22nd (local time) that the United States will continue to focus on the denuclearization of North Korea and will work closely with allies and partners.
In a video speech at the UN disarmament conference, Minister Blincoln mentioned the US responsibility for the removal and reduction of weapons of mass destruction. “The US continues to focus on North Korea’s denuclearization and is allied to deal with its illegal weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs. And we will work closely with our partners.”
The former administration of Donald Trump did not place weight on discussions and roles in the international arena, such as the United Nations disarmament conference, but the Joe Biden administration is taking’the return of the United States and restoring leadership’ as the basis of foreign policy.
Minister Blincoln said of China on the same day that “cooperating with alliances and partners, the United States will also demand greater transparency regarding China’s provocative and dangerous weapons development program.” “They will continue their efforts aimed at reducing the risks posed by their (China) nuclear weapons.”
He made it clear that he would put pressure on China’s arms development by taking transparency into question. Although the Biden administration is refining its strategy for the public, it has clarified a strong race by publicly criticizing China for not cooperating properly in investigating the origin of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
It is said that Russia will also keep an eye on the challenges posed by Russia while promoting the achievements of reducing nuclear threats through a five-year extension of the new strategic arms reduction agreement between the two countries (New START). In particular, referring to Russia’s attack satellite test in December last year, he stressed, “We want all countries, including China and Russia, to be involved in setting norms and standards for responsible behavior in space.”
Minister Blincoln criticized Syria’s use of chemical weapons, criticized Russia’s support, and attacked Russia’s use of chemical weapons against its own people, including opposition activist Alexey Navalni.
Regarding the Iranian nuclear agreement, Secretary Blincoln said, “We will continue to expand and strengthen the agreement while working with alliances and partners. We will also address other concerns, such as Iran’s actions in the region that harm stability and the development and spread of ballistic missiles.”
He reaffirmed President Biden’s policy that if Iran strictly adheres to the nuclear agreement, the United States is ready to do the same, while repeatedly stressing that diplomacy is the best way to prevent Iran from securing nuclear weapons.
