The US Senate decided on the 9th (local time) that the impeachment judgment against former President Donald Trump was constitutional.
According to the AFP news agency, in a vote asking whether the Trump impeachment trial held in the Senate on that day was constitutional, 56 votes were constitutional and 44 were unconstitutional. Six Republican lawmakers have chosen to be constitutional.
Accordingly, the Senate’s impeachment trial begins in earnest. The impeachment proceedings against former President Trump began at 1pm on the same day. The Democratic Party released a video of the situation at the time of the Trump supporters invading the Capitol on the 6th of last month as evidence.
Currently, the impeachment proposal is highly likely to be rejected. For conviction, 67 of the 100 senators, two-thirds or more, must agree. In other words, with the Democratic and Republican parties divided into 50 seats each, at least 17 Republican votes must be departed.
However, the prevailing prospect is that it will be virtually impossible to be convicted because the Republican Party’s exit vote was only six votes in this vote. This is because there is virtually no possibility that 44 Republican lawmakers who believe that it is unconstitutional to proceed with the impeachment trial against the former president will convict Trump.
