US equips stealth fighters with stealth missiles… Fatal for China and Russia

The US stealth fighter F-35 Lightning II, also owned by the ROK Air Force, was equipped with a joint strike missile (JSM, photo), a stealth missile. If the U.S. deploys the JSM in action, China and Russia will be in trouble because there is no sharp means to stop stealth missiles launched from stealth fighters.

Test firing success, over 500km range

According to the Norwegian Defense Acquisition Agency on the 21st, the F-35A successfully test-fired the JSM at Edwards Air Force Base in California, USA this month. The stealth design was applied to JSM. It also attaches to the F-35A’s internal armament spear and opens the armament spear door only when firing. This makes it difficult for the enemy to detect F-35 fighters and JSM missiles. Even if a stealth fighter is equipped with bombs or missiles on the wing or fuselage rather than the internal armament window, the possibility of radar detection increases.

Stealth fighters take on operational missions within the enemy’s air defense net. So, at the beginning, we didn’t consider long-range strike missiles because the stealth performance of a fighter jet was sufficient.

“JSM is currently the only long-range strike missile that can be fired by stealth fighters,” said Lu Seong-yeop, a research fellow at the 21st Century Military Research Institute. I judged it.”

JSM is a multi-purpose cruise missile that precisely strikes ground and sea targets on land, sea, and air. It flies up to 500km or more.

It was built on the basis of the Sea Strike Missile (NSM), an anti-ship missile made by Kongsberg, a Norwegian defense industry. The United States has been working with Norway to develop the F-35 since 2014 to install it on the F-35A for the air force and the F-35C for the navy.
