The U.S. Congress held a joint meeting of the two houses on the 7th and officially confirmed the victory of President-elect Joe Biden.

According to the AFP news agency, the US Congress completed counting the votes of the electoral team in each state early on the 7th and recognized Biden-elect as the next president.

Biden-elect secured 306 electoral votes, surpassing the majority of 270 electoral votes by state. The electoral team that President Trump has won is 232.

Members of the Senate and Senate rejected a denial of approval that some Republican lawmakers had filed in Arizona and Pennsylvania, certifying the votes of each state electoral group as a valid ballot.

Vice President Mike Pence, head of the US Senate, also declared the victory of Biden-elect after Congressional certification. Cheers erupted among lawmakers.

The meeting was held after an unprecedented incident in which hundreds of supporters of President Donald Trump who opposed the election of Biden broke into the Capitol.

Protesters broke through a barricade and occupied the Parliament House, causing lawmakers and Vice President Pence to evacuate, causing the certification process to be suspended for six hours.

As if he was conscious of the responsibility for this situation, President Trump made an official statement immediately after Congressional approval and promised, “I do not agree with the election results, but on January 20th, I will implement the regime in an orderly manner.”

He said, “The first of the greatest presidents of all time has ended. It is just the beginning of the fight to make the United States great again,” suggesting a rerun in 2024.

Meanwhile, Biden is scheduled to take office as the 46th President of the United States on the 20th. Democratic Senator Kamala Harris was elected as vice president. The US presidential election was finalized in about two months after the vote on November 3 of last year.
