US Ambassador Harry Harris said to Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, “It was an honor to work together”

US Ambassador Harry Harris resigned to Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha.

Ambassador Harris posted a photo taken with Minister Kang Kyung-hwa through Twitter on the 20th and said, “I hope the future of Foreign Minister Kang Gyeong-hwa will be full of winds”.

At the same time, Ambassador Harris said to Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, “It was a loyal support force to the ROK-US alliance, and it has improved Korea’s national character throughout the world.” He continued, “I will miss the minister. It was an honor to be able to work together.”

On the same day, in line with the inauguration of the U.S. administration, President Jae-in Moon appointed President Eui-yong Eui-yong, Special Assistant for Foreign Affairs and Security, as a candidate for the Minister of Foreign Affairs. As a result, Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha, a member of the Moon government’s cabinet, resigned after three years and seven months.

Kang, who is also the first female foreign minister, is known to have played a major role in the negotiations for denuclearization in North America. During the Pyongyang summit in September 2018, he was the first foreign minister to visit North Korea.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador Harris, who took office in July 2018, will also finish his term and return home.
