An Indonesian girl has continued to sleep for up to 13 days, and her family is asking for help, according to the local media, Banjarmasin Post, on the 9th (local time).

According to the media, the girl who fell into a’strange deep sleep’ is a 17-year-old Echa. The girl, who lives in Banjarmasin, Kalimantan, in southern Borneo, has suffered from this symptom since she hit her head on the asphalt floor in a motorcycle accident in 2016. It’s a symptom of being unable to wake up for at least 20 hours after falling into a deep sleep. Echa was examined at the time of the accident, but was diagnosed with no abnormalities in the brain or nerves.

As time passed after the accident, the symptoms of Echa became more severe. In 2017, I couldn’t wake up for 13 days. Even after entering this year, the media reported that he has been asleep for the eighth day from the night of the first to this day.

Echa’s father Mulyadi is asking for help by posting a picture of his sleeping daughter on his Facebook on the 2nd after his daughter Echa fell asleep. At the time, he said, “Echa fell asleep again last night,” and said, “I haven’t got up so far. I’m feeding food while sleeping. Please pray.”

Echa was moved to the hospital emergency room on the 3rd. X-rays, CT scans, MRI tests, sleep EEG tests, and blood tests were conducted at the hospital for three days, but no abnormalities were found again. The family explains that she has returned home now, but she is still asleep.

On this day, the father uploaded a picture of his sleeping daughter on his Facebook page again, saying, “Echa is still asleep deeply on the 8th day,” and asked for help again, saying, “Don’t forget to pray for everyone.” After Echa returned home, local personnel, including acting governor of South Kalimantan, visited and comforted the family.

Local media reported that Echa’s symptoms were suspected of being’Kleine-Levin syndrome’. It is also commonly referred to as’Sleeping Beauty Syndrome’. Found in 1925 and 1936 in Klein and Levin, respectively, and named in 1942, this symptom is a symptom of repeated hypersomnia and lasts up to several weeks. The opinion of the medical community is that it is found very rare, about 1-5 out of 1 million.
