The UN human rights investigator said on the 4th (local time) that the Myanmar military, which caused the coup, is committing illegal activities such as killing protesters, and that economic sanctions such as a ban on arms exports should be imposed on the military.
Reuters reported that the Myanmar military has killed, beaten and illegally arrested protesters after the coup on the 1st of last month, citing the remarks of UN human rights investigator Thomas Andrew.
Human Rights Investigator Andrew called for an international arms embargo on Myanmar and economic sanctions on the military at the UN Security Council held in Myanmar on the 5th. It also urged the International Criminal Court to prosecute the charges of atrocities.
