Ulsan Hyundai Appoints Director Hong Myung-Bo as New Command Tower

Ulsan Hyundai announced that it will appoint Hong Myung-bo as the team’s 11th manager in the 2021 season.

During his career as a player, coach Hong Myung-bo experienced various soccer experiences through the K-League, Japan J-League and the American MLS. As a national team, he played 136 games and played in the World Cup four times in a row from 1990 to 2002, leaving his mark as the best defender in the history of Korean football.

After retirement, he began his career as a coach for the national team in 2005, and after that, he worked as a coach and coach for the national team by age, coaching Anji Mahachikala (Russia), and gained various leadership experience, including coaching the national team and the club team (Hangzhou, China).

In 2012, as manager of the London Olympics, he won the first medal (bronze medal) in Korean history, and served as manager of the Asian Games in Guangzhou and the national team of the Brazil World Cup. After that, in 2017, he was elected as the executive director of the Korea Football Association and worked for four years, showing outstanding abilities as an administrator as well as a leader.

He is a manager with a style that leads the team with strong charisma and emphasizes’one team’, and he is judged to be the right person to lead Ulsan Hyundai in 2021.

Director Hong Myung-bo said, “I experienced everything I could experience with the national team, age group, and overseas league managers, but I felt uncomfortable in my mind as if I hadn’t done my homework. I am grateful for being able to contribute to the league as a manager and that the team is Ulsan leading the K-League. Ulsan can be an exemplary model in all aspects, including performances and fan-friendly activities in the K-League. I will do my best to make it.”

The new coach Hong Myung-bo is planning to convey his determination and thoughts as Ulsan coach to fans through an online press conference on January 7, 2021, and on the same day, starting with the squad meeting, he will take an official step.

On the other hand, after the convocation of Hong Myung Bok, winter training is scheduled in Tongyeong.
