The Ulsan Free Economic Zone Authority held an official opening ceremony at Ulsan City Hall on the 14th and presented this vision.
The Ulsan Free Economic Zone Authority was designated as a Free Economic Zone in June of last year, and has been operating since January 1 of this year after completing preparations such as securing the number of seats and public offering for the Commissioner.
Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Sung Yun-mo said in a congratulatory speech at the opening ceremony, “Please play a central role in regional development and job creation by fostering the hydrogen industry as a new industry in the future through the convergence and integration of the hydrogen sector with the main industries such as automobiles, shipbuilding and petrochemicals, which are the strengths of Ulsan.” He asked.
The government will focus on promoting the policy related to the’Free Economic Zone Innovation Strategy 2.0′ announced in October last year to raise the Free Economic Zone as a base for new global industries.
First, by selecting core strategic industries for each free economic zone, it was decided to provide incentives to not only foreign-invested companies but also domestic residents, such as pre-sale below the construction cost, private contracts allowed, and preferential rates of local investment subsidies.
With a total project cost of 4.2 billion won, it will not only build infrastructure such as access roads and water supply facilities necessary for the development of free economic zones, but also establish innovative growth support programs for tenant companies.
In addition, to promote the investment in new industries by establishing the Free Economic Zone as a regulatory innovation institution, we will seek regulatory innovation tasks, discover participating companies, and support special cases for demonstration consulting.
In particular, with regard to the hydrogen-leading city pursued by the Ulsan Free Economic Zone, from next month, in accordance with the enforcement of the hydrogen law, the company is planning to create a hydrogen economy ecosystem by designating a specialized hydrogen company and expanding green hydrogen demonstrations.
On this day, the Ulsan Free Economic Zone Authority held an agreement ceremony for the establishment of an innovative ecosystem in the Ulsan Free Economic Zone.
The heads of eight organizations, including the Ministry of Industry (Gyeongjadan) and Ulsan Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) participated in the agreement ceremony and agreed to endeavor to attract leading companies in the hydrogen industry and strengthen corporate support.
After the opening ceremony, Minister Seong visited the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Demonstration Center to encourage researchers and listen to the difficulties of the site and the opinions of the tenant companies.
